Collecting Plastic Bottle Tops

"Excuse me! Have you got any bottle tops?"

Nowadays you can hear such a question from a neighbour, a student, a friend or anyone else!

There is a very common and famous campaign across the country. Anyone who collects plastic bottle tops as many as possible and sends them to the related organisations can contribute to that campaign. Our students also collaborate for that social responsibility project in groups.

Any kind of bottle tops is acceptable in that campaign.

This activity has social and environmental aims. The social one is that these tops are sent to the recycling companies. These companies are requested wheelchairs (not cash money) for disabled people. Then these wheelchairs are given to the people who needs them, through the related organistions.

The environmental aim is that people get conscious about importance of recycling. Even little children know about this campaign thanks to mass media and also their neighours, students, grocerymen and anyone using plastic bottles.

The question is "Why are the bottle tops collected only?"

The answer is easy; they are easy to find and collect. You can have 4 wheelchairs in return for 1000kgs of bottle tops. When you think of the contribution of many people in every city, every street, every school across the country the profit is rather high.

"Very small things bring huge hopes!"

Practising Recycling & Joy of Reuse

REDUCE! REUSE! RECYCLE!

Our first concern is that 3R which we think is the basic principle to reduce the environmental pollution and to protect the green.

So, in the second meeting of our club, most of the members agreed on using plastic bottles for practising the idea.

Some of our students made flower pots using big plastic bottles to decorate their classrooms. They are waiting for spring to plant flowers in. Are they nice?

The students mostly used the bottles for decoration to have environmentaly friendly presents for friends to give them in the coming New Year and in the religious Bayrams.
